AXA field employees rely on the B.UNLIMITED Rechargeable Wireless Desktop with its unique charging concept

After the successful deployment of the SmartBoard G83-6744, the entire field staff of the AXA Konzern AG and DBV-Winterthur Holding will now be equipped with Office Desktops from Cherry GmbH.

The AXA group is one of Germany's leading insurers and financial services providers. Including the staff of DBVWinterthur Holding AG, which was acquired in July 2007, the AXA group now has about 12,000 employees in Germany. Approximately 4,500 sales agents are currently advising customers on site. To do so, AXA experts must be able to rely on a dependable IT infrastructure. Employees have already been using the chip card keyboard G83-6744 from Cherry GmbH for authentication at the workplace for two years. Additional workplaces are now going to be equipped with the B.UNLIMITED Rechargeable Wireless Desktop of the Upper Palatinate-based keyboard expert.

B.UNLIMITED – perfect Office Desktop with 2.4 GHz technology and reliable energy management
"Wireless desktops promote healthy posture and help keep the desk neat and tidy, but despite the many advantages, we delayed the decision to use wireless input devices, notes Ludwig Lenz, manager of the technical sales promotion department at AXA Service AG. "Extensive tests using the B.UNLIMITED Office Desktop from Cherry GmbH, however, were able to alleviate all concerns regarding delays and errors during wireless transfer or expensive energy management."

B.UNLIMITED Office Desktop uses state-of-the-art wireless technology and transmits the data packages quickly and securely in the 2.4-GHz frequency range. The main advantages compared with traditional 27MHz wireless technology are the reduced latency period, i.e. the signal entered appears on the screen with no time delay, increased range, transmission security and energy efficiency.
For open-plan offices, the 2.4 GHz wireless technology guarantees that up to 256 desktops can be used at the same time without any interference whatsoever. "In addition, the desktops are pre-coded, meaning that channel setting is no longer required. Real plug & play without annoying synchronisation of sender and recipient makes the IT administrators’ work easier," says Ludwig Lenz.
Cherry GmbH’s B.UNLIMITED Office Desktop, is the world’s only wireless desktop with a charging function in the keyboard and mouse via USB cable. If the charging status display indicates deteriorating battery power, both input devices can be charged using the supplied USB cable. There is no need for an annoying and expensive battery change or even an interruption to work resulting from having to charge the mouse and keyboard in an external charging station.

For people and the environment
"For insurance companies, environmental protection is not just a meaningless phrase. When we choose our IT infrastructure providers, we also make sure that we choose environmentally friendly products," is how Ludwig Lenz explains additional selection criteria. “Since the B.UNLIMITED Office Desktop has been awarded the "Blue Angel" eco-label, we can be sure of environmental friendliness; ranging from the use of raw materials in production to the long-term availability of replacement parts and ultimate recycling."

In addition to the "Blue Angel", the B.UNLIMITED Office Desktop has also been awarded the AGR (Healthy Back Campaign) seal of approval for particularly back-friendly products. The ultra-flat design of the keyboard prevents excessive hand bending and thus prevents finger and wrist pain. Symptoms which often lead to carpal canal syndrome – a condition which takes a long time to treat.

Proven quality: SmartBoard G83-6744
AXA and Winterthur field staff have already been using the chip card keyboard G83-6744 from Cherry GmbH for authentication at the workplace for two years. "Authentication using G83-6744 guarantees twice the security for sensitive customer data. Data can only be accessed if the user knows the pin and has the AXA access chip card," explains Ludgwig Lenz. SmartBoard G83-6744 has Common Criteria certification at evaluation assurance level EAL 3+ for qualified electronic signatures. The chip card reader is controlled via PC/SC in accordance with ISO 7816 and is compatible with EMV 2000 Terminal Level 1 and CCID. As a Class 2 reader, it comes equipped with secure PIN entry. The reader thus guarantees that the PIN is transmitted directly to the chip card without being diverted via the PC, therefore offering protection against Trojans. Of course, a CT-Api interface for Windows or Linux is also available. SmartBoard G83-6744 has also been awarded the "Blue Angel" eco-label.
