SmartBoard G83-6644, SmartBoard G83-6744, SmartTerminal ST- 1044U and SmartReader SR-4044 fulfil all requirements of the FIPS 201 standard (Federal Information Processing Standards Publication 201).
Cherry has been awarded FIPS 201 certification for the SmartBoards G83-6644 and G83-6744, the SmartTerminal ST-1044U and the SmartReader SR-4044 by the US agency GSA (Government Service Administration). The FIPS 201 standard was developed by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) in order to satisfy the technical requirements of the US security programme Homeland Security Directive (HSPD)-12. In particular FIPS 201 specifies the requirements for personal identity verification.
Secure access to network, PC and notebook with SmartBoards, SmartReader and SmartTerminal from Cherry In line with the HSPD-12 directive staff at all important agencies and authorities of the US government are in possession of standard ID in the form of a smart card. This ID is designed to provide access to buildings and computers by means of user authentication. This of course ensures top-level security for data handling. The SmartBoard G83-6744 from Cherry GmbH has been awarded Common Criteria certification at Evaluation Assurance Level EAL 3+ for qualified electronic signatures by Germany's Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). This is currently the highest security standard as the PIN of the smart card is directly transmitted to the smart card without being routed via the PC and is thus projected from Trojans. Support of PC/SC 2.0 is also ensures simple integration in applications. A CT-Api is of course available, as well as an OCF interface.
The SmartReader SR-4044 also guarantees security for data stored on notebooks when working out of the office. The PCMCIA smart card reader is EMV 2000 Terminal Level 1 approved and supports all common security standards. For secure network access at the office the SmartTerminal ST-1044U is a good choice. The smart card reader plus USB connection is compatible with CardMan 3121. In addition, it supports all relevant security standards and conforms to CCID, PC/SC and EMV 2000 Terminal Level 1.
